Coach Morello joined the Greenwich Football Staff in 2010 under legendary Coach Albonizio. As the Freshman Head Coach, Morello led the team to three undefeated seasons in 2011 - 2013, and was quickly promoted to the Varsity coaching staff in 2015 as the Offensive Line Coach. In 2016, he was again promoted to the Running Game Coordinator by then Head Coach John Marinelli. The development of the offensive line, and the success of the running game, played a large role in the team’s victory in the CT State Championship in 2018.
As a student-athlete at Greenwich High School, Morello was a twice decorated All-FCIAC and All-State selected player. He was team captain in his senior season of 2004, and was selected as a CIAC Scholar-Athlete. Coach Morello continued his athletic career at Union College where he was named All Liberty Conference for three consecutive season seasons(2006-2008), was a Division III All East member selection(2007), and was the team’s Offensive Most Valuable Player(2007).
In his five seasons as Head Coach, Coach Morello has led the Cardinals to five consecutive playoff appearances in five seasons, and the Cards have remained a fixture in the State poll and GametimeCT Top 10 poll since his hiring. The Cardinals sprinted through the 2022 playoffs capturing the 2022 Class LL State Title, receiving the Kelly Award as the #1 Team in the State. The 2023 Cardinals team followed up the ‘22 season by ripping off nine consecutive victories including a jaw dropping finish against the Spartans of Maloney. In 2024, the Greenwich football team won its second state title in three years riding the coattails of a superior defense, kicking game, and rushing attack.
Coach Morello looks forward to continuing the beloved traditions of Greenwich Football. His coaching philosophy is to provide the greatest game in America to any student athlete with an interest, while also creating a memorable and meaningful experience for every student athlete that steps foot into Cardinal Stadium.
